KASABIAN want to boldly go where no band has gone before… to space. The Leicester rockers hope to pip rivals Muse by doing the first gig orbiting 250 miles above the Earth. Guitarist Serge Pizzorno, 31, told me: “What would be great would be to do some live shows from space. Beam them back from the International Space Station with a satellite link-up and go straight into homes or cinemas.” The idea came after the band announced their recent O2 Arena London gigs would be screened in cinemas nationwide tomorrow. Serge added: “Every time we do a tour we like to film it but this time we are screening it in cinemas. “It’s difficult to predict where you’ll have a good show but somehow the magic happened at the O2 so we were really lucky. The cinema is a great place to see a gig.” Concert films are how the lanky axeman learned to play the guitar. He said: “I picked up Radiohead and Oasis songs through old footage of concerts.” Seems like Serge has caught the movie bug. He revealed: “I did the music for the film London Boulevard. It’s given me the bug. I buzzed off it. “One day I’d love to direct a film, something insane.” After his wonder goal in Sunday’s Soccer Aid match, Serge is resting his weary bones. He laughed: “Will Ferrell is a real beauty but I don’t think rock 'n’ roll is any good for sport.” Kasabian Live At The O2 is showing at cinemas nationwide for one night only on May 30. www.dailystar.co.uk/playlist/view/253851/Serge-Pizzorno-eyes-galactic-gig/
