A thread to discuss the 5th record from the Worlds Best Fucking Band.
Will it be Dance? Dark? Pop? Indie? Rock? Alternative? Psychedelic? Does it matter?
Only time will give us the real answer (Album expected late 2013).
Due to family commitments, I can't see Kasabian doing much in terms of interviews and press releases over the next year. So, my guess is the album will be produced quickly once in studio, due to a fair few tracks possibly deriving from Serge's own collection.
So, it's great when Tom recently gave an interview at T-In The Park to NME and hinted at possible influences for the record.

'What can you expect from the new album?'
- "This next album we're gonna' go left-field...really dark left-field as well"
Then went on to say he was frustrated by the record company giving them 3 minute slots for songs and would like to go back to the Kasabian and Ryder days of..
- "Do interludes, psychedelic breakdowns, 12 minute endings, ya know".
So this may translate to going back to more Beneficial Herbs, I.D. and Club Foot (Dreamy) over the poppy tunes like Velociraptor.
I'm pretty sure this will be met well by those fans who miss the disturbing and edgy tunes perfected by Karloff and Pizzorno, both who mixed dance and darkness to perfection, particularly on tunes like Empire and Club Foot. The only losers could be the radio stations and record companies, who demand short, indie-rock pieces to feed to the mass market. I can only think this is a good thing for all the fans.
(If Tom follows up on his words!......)
