Hello ,so next weekend is that time of year again when some of us will queue at a ridiculous early time in hoping to get the special one off vinyls. What are you hoping to get this year? and hopefully not having to pay crazy prices on EBay. This year I'm starting out quite early and hoping to be in the queue for 4.30am but probably most likely at 5am with camping stool and a flask in hand .Im really want Biffy Clyro and any of the David Bowie ,Paul Weller,Foals and Frightened Rabbit.I also quite fancy Chas n Daves Rabbit !,I know it's a bit of a strange one but I like the look of it .As I'm doing this more keeps popping in my head but really have to pull the reins in as if I don't get Biffy it will mean me paying over the odds.Anyway good luck and hope you all and myself get what we want.

Yes, can't believe it's that time of year again already. Well i've got my list and travel to the record shop all sorted for an early start, I just have to hope there's not too many people in the queue when I get there.
The trick is not to panic if you don't get what you want straight away, in america they list their stock online 1 day later if there's anything left over (and there always is), and in the UK online sales occur 1 week later online, so plenty of chances to get what you want.
My list for this year is:
BAT FOR LASHES LAURA / MARILYN (VOGUE LOVE SONGS SESSIONS) FALL OUT BOY MY SONGS KNOW WHAT YOU DID IN THE DARK FOALS MY NUMBER/BLUEBIRD JAKE BUGG KENTUCKY MOBY & MARK LANEGAN THE LONELY NIGHT PARLOUR FLAMES MANCHESTER RAIN PAUL WELLER FLAME-OUT! / THE OLDE ORIGINAL PINK FLOYD SEE EMILY PLAY SUEDE BARRIERS / ANIMAL NITRATE DOORS X - SOUL KITCHEN SECRET 7 VARIOUS ARTISTS STEVE MOORE HORROR BUSINESS BARRY GRAY/GERRY ANDERSON THE CASS CARNABY FIVE EP 10" KATE BUSH RUNNING UP THAT HILL (A DEAL WITH GOD) [2012 REMIX) VARIOUS ARTISTS FACTORY - COMMUNICATIONS 1978-1992 EP VOL 2 12" PRIMAL SCREAM RECORD STORE DAY MYSTERY SINGLE PULP AFTER YOU TAME IMPALA TAME IMPALA EP 12" THE VERVE VERVE EP 12" LP Artist Title CREAM ROYAL ALBERT HALL LONDON MAY 2-3-5-6 2005 DJANGO DJANGO HI DJINX! DJANGO DJANGO REMIXED TIM BURGESS OH NO I LOVE YOU MORE WHITE STRIPES ELEPHANT
From the USA list i'm after
Paul Weller - Sonik Kicks 7" Signed box set as well

I remember last year you had a nice long list and got near enough what you wanted. This year I thought Il set out nice and early as the shop didn't open til 10am and thought I'd be in with a fairly good chance but no ,they are opening at 8am and due to reasons I can't set out til around 345 or 4am . I didn't realise The Verve had one out as well and the Tim Burgess sounds quite smart but that's £25 so I will only get it if they sell out on my other wants. With the online sales last year Banquets site went down ,it was worse than getting Kasabian warm up tickets.Good luck with the Kate Bush as I've heard they usually are the first to go. If you have any pointers to the US stores il be happy if you could PM a name or 2, as one of Biffys is US only, thanks . Finally this year the RSD is really being promoted this year with some really good events going on.Im looking to go to a shop in Berwick St in London after my early jaunt and probably drag my daughter to that one as she wants Men Without Hats !!.

I like it, sounds like you've got a great plan there, loving the pick by your daughter, nice to see everyone getting involved For me it's Reflex CD in Newcastle again for my first haul (around 5.00am), then in the afternoon taking my little boy to sample his first taste of live music to RPM music also in Newcastle to watch a stripped down set from Maximo Parks Duncan Lloyd's new band Decade In Exile, so that should be good fun. I would seriously consider giving the Tim Burgess a second look as the first 300 copies are personally signed by Tim, so definitely a good one to have in the collection if you can get one of those. I'll be sorting out all my links this week for the USA retailers, so stand by your PM's as i'll be sending you the links as well.

Cheers ,I will look at the Tim Burgess one to see if it's signed but all the signed ones will probably be in Piccadilly Records with Tims coffee.Because of my daughters obsession with the Supernatural series that's why she wants it ,as it features on some Supernatural you tube videos .But its not a bad song really and now on every RSD she always wants something.Gorillaz The Fall and last years Loose Tapestries.A bit of good news for myself Banquet have got good quantitys of Biffys import but it sounds like they only have a handful of Bowies Stars are out so they will go to the people queuing at 1am,so good on them that's dedication.Il check my PMs in a couple of days .So hope you get quite a few off your list and your boy hopefully enjoys the experience. And if he likes the live music he might want to see Kasabian when they do the rounds again. They were my daughters first live gig at 9 or 10.

Well that's it for another year ,hopefully we might get a Kasabian release next year if they do least I'd know that Im able to get up at some ridiculous time. This year I did manage to start queuing at 4.15am and roughly around the 30ish in the queue ,so least I knew I had a good chance of getting my wish list .In the end I got Biffy Clyro Black Chandelier Biffy clyro Modern Magic Formula David Bowie Stars are out David Bowie Drive in Saturday Suede Animal nitrate Men without hats Safety Dance The Verve Frightened Rabbits .The Midnight organ Fight. There was a few I picked up but put them down as I had to draw the line and Biffy and Bowie were the ones I'd set out for.I would of liked The White Stripes Elephant Paul Weller The Foals Tim Burgess but none were signed. Pulp Jeff Buckley Leonard Cohen And Chas and Dave. So this week on the online sales I might buy a couple more ?.But Banquet were fortunate enough to get lots of copies of many releases so that made life a lot easier.I didn't venture into London to go to Sister Rays as I was knackered. But next year I would do the early start as people queuing from 8am apparently didn't get in til 2pm .And so no Bowie for them. When we were asking each other what we wanted Bowie was the main one. I haven't played any yet I'm leaving that til Saturday. If you done RSD hope you got what you wanted and I know one other person on here probably has.Thanks.

Wow, looks like you had a great day, i'm impressed with what you finally bought and you've left a few good ones to maybe pick up when the online sales start (I bet you'll find it hard to resist)
Like you I also got in the queue for 4.30am and was well suprised to find only 6 people in front of me, so I knew I had a good chance of grabbing all my wants. Had a lot of great banter in the queue and was in and out the first shop by around 8.30am and moving swiftly onto shop number 2. In the end I picked up the following:
BARRY GRAY/GERRY ANDERSON - THE CASS CARNABY FIVE EP BAT FOR LASHES - LAURA / MARILYN (VOGUE LOVE SONGS SESSIONS) COLDPLAY - HUTTS LIKE HEAVEN / UP AGAINST THE WORLD DAVID BOWIE - THE STARS ARE OUT TONIGHT DOORS - X - SOUL KITCHEN FOALS - MY NUMBER/BLUEBIRD JAKE BUGG - KENTUCKY MOBY & MARK LANEGAN - THE LONELY NIGHT PARLOUR FLAMES - MANCHESTER RAIN PAUL WELLER -FLAME-OUT! / THE OLDE ORIGINAL PINK FLOYD - SEE EMILY PLAY SECRET 7 - VARIOUS ARTISTS SUEDE - BARRIERS / ANIMAL NITRATE
KATE BUSH - RUNNING UP THAT HILL (A DEAL WITH GOD) [2012 REMIX) VARIOUS ARTISTS FACTORY - COMMUNICATIONS 1978-1992 EP VOL 2
PRIMAL SCREAM PULP - AFTER YOU TAME IMPALA - TAME IMPALA EP THE VERVE - VERVE EP TIM BURGESS - OH NO I LOVE YOU MORE (Managed to get a signed one) WHITE STRIPES - ELEPHANT DEATH WALTZ RECORDS RELEASES STAR TREK / LOST IN SPACE - 7" TWILIGHT ZONE / OUTER LIMITS - 7" ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS / THE MUNSTERS - 7" ANTONI MAIOVVI - MUSIC FROM THE SHORT FILM - 12" STEVE MOORE HORROR BUSINESS - 12" PAUL WELLER - SONIK KICKS SIGNED 7" BOX IMPORT (This was number 1 on my hitlist this year, so was exremely pleased to pick this up)
So far i've listened to the White Stripes, Kate Bush, The Verve and Pulp, all have been excellent and i'll be trying to get through the rest by the end of the weekend.
I might have a look at the online sales at the weekend to see if anything else catches my eye.

Well done also ,that seems the right thing to do now queue up around 4 to get good pickings.I told you there wouldnt probably be any signed Tims but he's bringing it out on cd signed so il get that instead. Its so tempting to get carried away and I also wouldn't mind The Munsters theme. So on Saturday if it's in stock I'm going for that and Pulp as I've just bought a preorder for Biffy Clyro exclusive VOB white vinyl repress and it's limited to 300,so that purchase has made me very happy so that's staying mint .I looked at Wellers box set on one of the links but passed it. When you get round to playing the secret 7 please let us know what it was as even the record store didnt know and not letting on.

The Secret 7" is:
'Iko Iko' by Grateful Dead on a side, Iko Iko by Dr. John and The Dixie Cups B side
I seen the Biffo Clyro release yesterday White Vinyl Banquet exclusive, will be a nice keeper that one, not a bad price as well, £22 for a limited run of only 300, should rise very nicely in value.

Yes im pleased about such a limited release of VOB.Ihave the orange version so least the white vinyl will remain unplayed. I have just added to the record store day releases with White Stripes Elephant Foals My Number The munsters I managed to get them from Resident music in Brighton .The postage was a bit steep but that was the only site with all three.
